It probably never occurred to Tempe based rapper, Mouse Powell, that at 11 years old he’d go from being the angsty, punk kid that was saving for a guitar to being a successful rapper here in Valley. Mouse takes a genre blending method of ‘punk DIY, till we die aesthetic’ and creates feel-good music that even the biggest hip-hop hater would enjoy.
Check out his latest single he released back in August: ‘King of my Own Backyard’:
This year, Mouse is back at it again (Damn, Mouse) with the dope music. The 19th, you can catch him rocking the stage at the Pot of Gold Festival in Chandler, with musical greats like Earl Sweatshirt, Big Sean, Rebelution, and more.
It’s super validating. We’ve been putting in a lot of effort over the past few years, so it’s nice to be recognized like that. It’s a bit daunting but I’m stoked on it.
It’s more of a bigger opportunity for the local rapper, considering this will be the biggest audience he’s performed in front of. So what should we expect? “Got a pretty fun set lined up. Gonna be party time excellent and might even have some special guests.” said Powell.
And what’s next for Mouse…
Whatever home sick is, I’m the fucking opposite of that.
So expect to see more of Mouse Powell on the road, but if you haven’t already, get your tickets for the Pot Of Gold Fest here.
